| First
we quake’ in Tokyo Our exhibition in Tokyo took place in september 2006 in gallery Deux Poissons. |
| It was a great experience to be in Tokyo again, after 13 years!! Many things changed, mostly expanded, the city itself, but also the Hiko Mizuno college of jewellery and design... it became so huge! Incredible!!! |
| We arrived to Tokyo a few days before the opening, to have time to arrange the exhibition, to meet some of our old friends; Tomomi Arata, Hiroshi Sako, Tomomi Nagao, Teruo Akatsu, Mr. Kageyama, and of course Mr. Hiko Mizuno. |
| We also had to make last preparations for the lecture we were to give at the Hiko Mizuno college... all seemed to go well, only that in the last moment it became clear that the powerpoint presentation was not a piece of cake as we thought... That was a shame, but the lecture was fascinating anyway! |
| During our stay in Tokyo we were treated with great hospitality and kindness, were taken to great restaurants and fascinating neighbourhoods, and had some very interresing conversations with our japanese friends and colegues, comparing the “scene” in Japan to the ones in the Netherlands and Germany... |
| and thinking how exchanges such as the jewellery quake in 1993, and first we quake now we shake these days strengthen the influences within the field. On the other hand they show the differences in approaches to jewellery, that still very much exist. |
| But... the important thing is, we met each other again, jewellery works from the other side of the globe got in many ways a whole lot closer! |
